About Me

Well, hello there. My name is Adam Cece and I write children’s books. Insert snazzy author photo below:

I was born in Adelaide, South Australia, but lived part of my childhood in New Zealand, so I consider myself part Aussie and part Kiwi. I’ve been writing for more than thirty years, but it wasn’t until I had two children, a full-time job, and zero spare time, that I decided to seriously chase my publishing dreams.

Now I write books, screenplays and shopping lists. In 2014 I completed an Advanced Diploma of Arts in Professional Writing at the Adelaide College of the Arts. In 2015 my debut middle grade novel, Wesley Booth Super Sleuth, was published by Scholastic Australia.

I have published children’s books with publishers Scholastic Australia and Text Publishing. In 2017 my book, The Extremely Weird Thing That Happened in Huggabie Falls, was shortlisted for the 2017 Text Prize, and then I won!!! This led to me signing a three-book deal with Text Publishing for the Huggabie Falls series. This series is now published in countries all over the world. You can watch my Text Prize acceptance speech, and the trailer for The Extremely Weird Thing That Happened in Huggabie Falls, below …

I regularly visit schools and libraries delivering fun, interactive talks focussed on being an author, the craft of writing, getting published, solving mysteries, and how to write a cracking shopping list.

In South Australia I also regularly visit school and libraries in my role as a Premier’s Reading Challenge Ambassador (http://www.premiersreadingchallenge.sa.edu.au/prc/pages/books/AdamCece/?reFlag=1)
